SONGBIRD 57N 2019 PIPER DUTCH BARGE

SOLD

Songbird is a beautifully maintained steel replica Dutch Barge built by Piper Boats in the UK. Designed and built for extensive cruising in the UK and Europe. She was launched on the Thames in June 2019 and spent the following 2.5 years cruising the Thames before making the sea crossing to France, where she is currently moored in a marina at Auxonne on the river Saone. She is a stunning example of her class and is admired wherever she goes. Tastefully fitted out with a contemporay feel, whilst maintaining its maritime heritage. The wheelhouse is timber built and designed to be removable if required. This also allows for the front windscreen to be fully opened enabling a cool breeze to flow through on hot summer days and giving a more outdoor feel to the cruising experience. With her bow and stern thrusters (controlled either at the helm or via a remote handheld unit) she is easily handled by one or two people.

The second bedroom can be used as a dining room or office if required, as the table and seating configuration can be easily transformed from a double bed to a table with comfortable seating. The room has a full hight wardrobe and two sizeable draws for storage. The wall between the saloon and the bedroom can also be lowered to open up the space or raised to add privacy.

The saloon has large viewing windows (all the windows on the boat can be lifted out – (helpful in warm weather)). Adjacent to the saloon is the well-equipped galley. Throughout Songbird, all sockets and all appliances except the fridge and freezer (12v) are 240 volts. The galley is set up similar to what you would find in a small apartment. With plenty of worktop and storage space, together with a sink and drainer, four- ring gas hob, gas oven, large fridge and large freezer, microwave/grill, Zanussi washer drier and half size dishwasher. The galley also has a radiator. Coldwater is stored in a tank in the bow which holds 1,800 litres.

The wheelhouse interior is fitted out in mahogany. It has seating and a table which can accommodate 4 people. The table can also be removed, and the area easily converted into a further double berth. External access to the wheelhouse is by the two side stable doors or by the double stable doors at the rear leading on to the specious rear deck.
